EQUITY AFIA ROLLS OUT 2 NEW MEDICAL CENTRES IN KAKAMEGA & MERU
Equity Bank continued the spread of its health brand Afia Medical in Western and Central province. The fast spreading centres are attracting traction across the country as alternative affordable healthcare outlets that will surely see Kenyans breathe a sigh of relieve due to the spiraling costs of medical care in recent times.
In Kakamega, the Equity Afia medical centre is located at Walia Business Center, along the Kisumu-Kakamega Highway; while in Meru, residents can find the Equity Afia medical centre along the Meru-Maua road, near Meru School towards Makutano.
In line with the Universal Health Coverage goals, the Equity Afia medical centres have been established with the sole purpose of increasing access to quality healthcare services through offering quality and standardized services at affordable costs.
Commenting on the opening of the two facilities, Equity Group Foundation Executive Director, Reuben Mbindu, expressed Equity Afia’s commitment to transforming lives and enabling Kenyans to lead productive lives through providing access to inclusive quality healthcare services.
“We are keen on ensuring that all Kenyans enjoy access to quality medical outpatient and referral services. Our clinics are NHIF accredited and we also accept a large number of insurance cards as well as out of pocket payment. This diversity allows Kenyans from all walks of life to enjoy access to quality treatment with ease and at affordable costs,” said Mr. Mbindu.
Currently, Equity Afia operates 15 medical centres in 7 counties and has plans to venture into other regions as the year progresses. In Nairobi County, Equity Afia operates clinics in Buruburu, Kayole, Kawangware, Kahawa West, Utawala, Embakasi and in CBD along Biashara Street. In Kiambu County, the franchise has clinics in Kikuyu, Thika and Ruiru and operates another clinic in OngataRongai, which is in Kajiado County. Outside Nairobi and its outskirts, Equity Afia has operational clinics in Nyeri, Nakuru, Kakamega and Meru Counties.
Added Mbindu: “At Equity Afia, we believe that by improving access to high quality and standardized healthcare, we will enhance quality of life and contribute to a healthier future. So far, our medical centres have recorded a total of 190,000 outpatient visits.”
The clinics offer general consultation services, specialized clinics like obstetrics and gynaecology, well-baby clinics, dental services, optical services, dermatological services, paediatric services and nutrition services among others and are supported by well-equipped laboratories and stocked pharmacies.
Equity Afia is an initiative under the Equity Group Foundation that is using franchising principles to train and monitor a network of medical entrepreneurs, who are qualified alumni of the Equity Leaders Program (ELP). The main goal is to ensure sustained improvement of the health and well-being of Kenyans by increasing access to and utilization of quality, affordable and standardized healthcare.
Equity Afia (EQA) was established in 2015 under the Equity Group Foundation’s (EGF) health pillar. The goal of Equity Afia is to ensure sustained improvement of the health and well-being of Kenyans by increasing access to utilization of quality, affordable and standardized healthcare.
Equity Afia is committed to the government’s agenda on universal health coverage by increasing access to quality and affordable healthcare. In order to champion this, Equity Afia has instituted a rollout plan of setting up and operationalizing more outpatient health facilities over the next few years. This will be distributed across the country to ensure presence and coverage in each county.
With the rollout of Afia competition in the medical provision sector, hopefully to the benefit of Kenyans of all walks of life. This will no doubt enhance job creation and access to universal healthcare across the country.
